Career Services Director

Location: Tampa Campus

Job Description:
The Career Services Director provides and assists in career guidance for all current students and graduates to maintain positive student outcomes and meet placement requirements. The Director provides career assistance through workshops, personal advisement in general career exploration, decision-making, resume writing, and job search skill development. A successful candidate should be a dynamic presenter that can maintain active and positive relationships with employers to ensure significant jobs for graduates. The Director will be responsible for maintaining employment information on all graduates and track placement rates for each program. This individual will research and identify the needs of the community and match student skills to appropriate employment sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Have excellent interpersonal, presentation, customer service and communication skills
  • Conduct seminars on resume writing, interviewing techniques and job search skills
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with local employers
  • Assist in support of career fairs on campus
  • Participate in community organization events; chamber of commerce events, trade shows, career fairs, networking events, and other special events in an effort to increase name recognition for the institution, develop business, educational, and community relationships
  • Achieve and maintain placement goals
  • Assist with student retention
  • Maintain placement information and student placement files in accordance with all accrediting agencies standards and requirements
  • Develop and maintain a current job list for graduating students and alumni

Requirements:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the career planning/counseling process
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and resume writing
  • Detail Oriented
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  • Must be professional in all aspects of the position including appearance, demeanor, and attitude and consistently display the highest levels of integrity

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years experience in recruiting, career services and employment assistance, or sales experience

Instructor: Cosmetology Program

Location: Tampa and Sarasota Campus

Job Description:
The Instructor for the Cosmetology program is responsible for the overall quality of the education delivered within the courses being taught. The faculty member should be a dynamic presenter capable of motivating and inspiring students to embrace their career education. Faculty members for the Cosmetology Program are responsible for ensuring students within the course follow the established rules and regulations of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a teaching assignment for class
  • Actively work to maintain retention in all classes taught, by maintaining accurate attendance records daily, calling all students who are absent, and recording absentee information in roster after each class meeting and communicating attendance 'concerns' to the Program department head
  • Design, administer and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus
  • Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided, to assure course content and objectives are met
  • Be available to advise students, tutor and provide other assistance as needed

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Capable of gaining students attention and motivating them to succeed
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software
  • Self-starter capable of working with little supervision
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  • Ability to work standing for long periods

Education/Experience

  • Current Florida License in Cosmetology
  • Two to three years experience in the field
  • Experience teaching a plus, but experience may be substituted if the candidate has the requisite education
  • Individual must be professional and proficient in all phases of service industry and sales

Faculty members for the Dental Program are responsible for ensuring students within the course follow the established rules and regulations of the school.

Admissions Representative

Location: Tampa Campus & Sarasota Campus

Job Description:
The admissions representative is a results-oriented sales professional who acts as a liaison between Meridian College and prospective students to generate interest in attending the school.

Responsibilities

  • Calls prospective students to schedule on campus appointments
  • Responds to incoming calls from inquiring students; provide program information
  • The Admissions Representative listens and considers the needs of the prospective students in order to provide them with the educational solutions for their career needs
  • Conducts campus tours
  • Maintains records of calls made, calls received and issues/concerns addressed
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by students or parents of students regarding cost, financing, dress code, curriculum, tutoring, testing procedures or cancellation policy
  • Interviews and enrolls prospective students in any one of our programs

Requirements

  • Outstanding telephone and interviewing skills
  • Self-discipline and ability to work independently and with a team

Financial Aid Advisor

Location: Tampa Campus & Sarasota Campus

Job Description:
The Financial Aid Advisor works with prospective students to understand the methods available to finance their education. As a Financial Aid Advisor you will use your analytical and critical thinking skills to conduct a federal need analysis, verification, and initial packaging for the processing of Title IV aid applications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with financial aid regulatory requirements as it pertains to federal and state accrediting agencies and Meridian Education policies and procedures
  • Prepare student financial aid package
  • Determine financial aid eligibility, develop and review financial aid plan with students and parent(s) or family member(s) while providing consumer information as required by Federal Regulations
  • Follow up on the status of all pending student loans/grants or promissory notes in order to complete student financial aid packages
  • Conduct student entrance and exit interviews to ensure all financial obligations are met in a timely manner
  • Investigate and solve files returned from the U.S. Department of Education for review or verification
  • Audit all outgoing student files for accuracy and thoroughness
  • Maintain current knowledge of all government regulations and requirements
  • Check NSLDS for electronic financial aid transcripts

Requirements

  • Ability to interact with all levels of individuals
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and problem solver
  • This is a full time position that requires day, evening and weekend availability

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or a related field
  • 1-2 years experience as a Financial Aid officer / representative, proprietary school financial aid experience is a plus
  • Hands on knowledge of crossover funding issues
  • Experience with Return to Title IV calculations
  • Knowledge of Federal and state grant / loan programs
